CookieScript Pricing Update: What Changed and Why
We recently updated our pricing for the first time in over three years. We know price changes are never welcome news, so we want to be fully transparent about what changed, why, and what it means for you.
Why prices changed
We rebuilt the banner from the ground up. Over the past year, our team has completely rewritten and redesigned the CookieScript banner from scratch. The new banner is faster, lighter, easier to customize, and built on a modern architecture that lets us ship new features much more quickly. This wasn't a facelift — it's a new product core, and it required a major engineering investment.
We added more value to every plan. As part of this update, we introduced a new 1-domain plan that includes a free staging/preproduction domain. Previously, testing your banner before going live required purchasing a second domain slot. Now every banner comes with a built-in staging environment at no extra cost.
We made domain ranges much more flexible. Previously, plans jumped from 2 straight to 5 domains, from 20 to 50, and from 100 to 200 — so if you needed, say, 3 or 30 domains, you had to pay for the next size up. The new lineup adds five new options: **3, 7, 15, 30, and 150 domains**, for twelve plan sizes in total (1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20, 30, 50, 100, 200 and beyond). You now pay much closer to what you actually use, and thanks to volume discounts, the price per domain keeps dropping at every step.
Our prices hadn't changed in over three years — while the rest of the market raised theirs repeatedly. Over that same period, major consent management platforms increased their prices on average twice each. One leading competitor doubled its base price in a single update in 2025 (from roughly €15 to €30 per domain per month) while simultaneously moving smaller accounts onto a more expensive tier. Another has raised its prices by around 15% year after year. Others introduced completely restructured, higher price lists. Through all of it, CookieScript's prices stayed exactly the same — even as we added dozens of features, expanded our infrastructure, and grew our support team. This update brings us back in line with the market while still keeping us clearly below it.
How our prices compare
Even after this update, CookieScript remains one of the most affordable solutions on the market — often by a wide margin. Most competing consent management platforms with a comparable feature set charge **per domain, with no volume discount**. We kept our volume discounts: the more domains you add, the less you pay per domain.
A few real-world comparisons (competitor prices are typical published rates for platforms with an equivalent feature set):
Single domain
CookieScript (per year) | Typical competitor (per year) | |
|---|---|---|
Entry plan | €108 | $10/mo × 12 = $120 |
Mid plan with automatic scans | €228 | $25/mo × 12 = $300 |
Full-featured plan (IAB TCF, consent log, API) | €348 | $55/mo × 12 = $660 |
**Multiple domains** — this is where the difference becomes dramatic, because most competitors simply multiply their price by your number of domains:
10 domains | CookieScript (per year) | Typical competitor (per year) |
|---|---|---|
Entry plan | €591 (≈ €4.93/domain/mo) | $10 × 10 × 12 = $1,200 |
Mid plan | €1,166 (≈ €9.72/domain/mo) | $25 × 10 × 12 = $3,000 |
Full-featured plan | €1,797 (≈ €14.98/domain/mo) | $55 × 10 × 12 = $6,600 |
In other words: on a 10-domain full-featured plan, you pay roughly **a quarter** of what an equivalent per-domain platform would charge — and the gap grows further with more domains.
What this means for existing customers
If you have an active subscription with automatic payments, nothing changes for you right now. You will keep your existing plan at your existing price for a limited time, as long as your automatic renewal remains active. We will notify you well in advance before any change to your subscription takes effect.
If your subscription lapses or automatic payments are canceled, re-subscribing will be at the current published prices.
Frequently asked questions
I only use my second domain for testing. Do I need to keep paying for it?
No — that's exactly why we created the new 1-domain plan. It includes a staging/preproduction domain for free, so if your second domain slot was only used for testing, you can switch to the 1-domain plan.
Will my price change mid-subscription?
No. Prices are never changed during a paid subscription period. All plans are billed yearly, and your price is locked for the full period you've paid for.
Do volume discounts still apply?
Yes. Per-domain pricing decreases as you add domains — for example, on the entry plan a single domain costs €9/month, while at 200 domains the effective price is about €1.12 per domain per month.
I'm currently paying for more domains than I use. Can I switch to one of the new plan sizes?
Yes. With the new 3, 7, 15, 30, and 150 domain options, there's now likely a plan that matches your actual usage much more closely. You can switch at your next renewal — in many cases, a better-fitting smaller plan can partially or fully offset the price update.
I have feedback about the new pricing.
