The IAB Europe Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF) 2.2 allows businesses to provide targeted advertising while complying with GDPR requirements. It serves as a valuable guideline for simplifying compliance, though its use is not legally required. In 2023, TCF v2.2 was launched, and it is now mandatory for using Google advertising products.

CookieScript offers full integration with TCF v2.2 and is a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP), included in Google’s list of approved CMPs.

How to enable IAB TCF 2.2?

To enable this feature, log in to your CookieScript account, navigate to Settings > Frameworks, and check the option to activate IAB TCF 2.2.

By enabling IAB TCF 2.2, you ensure compliance with GDPR, streamline interactions between publishers and vendors, and gain access to Google’s advertising ecosystem. This integration simplifies regulatory adherence while maintaining transparency and trust with your users.

Once enabled, TCF v2.2 will be added as an extra tab on your cookie banner. When TCF v2.2 is activated, users will see a Show All Partners option on the banner.:

Note: When the IAB TCF 2.2 is activated, users will see a Show All Partners option on the banner. Please note that this feature is a mandatory requirement from the IAB and cannot be hidden or removed. It ensures transparency and aligns with the framework’s guidelines, providing clarity to users about vendor partnerships and data usage purposes, such as content personalization and targeted advertising.

How to customize the list of vendors?

The IAB TCF framework includes a comprehensive list of vendors to ensure compliance with various privacy regulations. For example, website users could see such an option on your banner Show All Partners (1500).

To make your banner more relevant and less overwhelming for your visitors, you can customize the list of vendors to include only those that are pertinent to your website:

Go to Settings > Frameworks >Enable IAB TCF 2.2 and then:

  1. Press the button Select vendors.

  2. Press the button Deselect all.

  3. Select manually the vendors that are relevant to your website and business operations.

This will reduce the number of displayed partners on your cookie banner and make the consent process clearer and more user-friendly for your visitors.

DISABLE IAB GDPR APPLIANCE checkbox

The gdprApplies value refers to whether the GDPR applies to a user or data processing activity. By default, CookieScript sends the gdprapplies:true value to the IAB, meaning that the user is in the EEA or data processing is subject to GDPR.

If you check this checkbox, CookieScript will send the gdprapplies:false value to the IAB. When checked, it means that the user is outside the GDPR's territorial scope, and therefore, the GDPR does not apply to them.
