Problems with website performance / INP / LCP
This article explains how to check if the cookie banner is related to the poor website performance / INP / LCP.
Do you have poor website performance / INP / LCP, and wondering if this is because of the implemented cookie banner? Let’s check.
First, temporarily disable the cookie banner and check if your website performance improves. To disable the cookie banner, go to your CookieScript user account > Settings > Main settings, and uncheck the BANNER PUBLISHED tab. Then check if there are changes in your website performance / INP / LCP using online tools like https://pagespeed.web.dev/
If there are no changes, the CookieScript cookie banner is not related to this issue. Check your website to improve the website performance.
If your website performance improves, change to the CookieScript cookie banner’s settings. Install the CookieScript cookie banner using the GTM Tag Template (if you used a different method), and then set the following configurations:
Go to your CookieScript user account > Settings > Banner behavior, and check the checkbox IMPROVE INP METRICS. Check if there are changes in your website performance using online tools like https://pagespeed.web.dev/
Go to your CookieScript user account > Settings > Banner behavior, and check the checkbox SHOW BANNER BEFORE PAGE LOADS. Check if there are changes in your website performance using online tools like https://pagespeed.web.dev/
Go to your CookieScript user account > Settings > Banner behavior, find the checkbox BANNER DISPLAY DELAY (MILLISECONDS), set the value to 4000 milliseconds, and save changes. Check if there are changes in your website performance using online tools like https://pagespeed.web.dev/
