Google is now updating from Google Consent Mode to Google Consent Mode Version 2. To ensure seamless functionality with Google Consent Mode v2, it is crucial to update your GTM CookieScript template to the latest version by March 2024. Delaying this update may result incompatibility issues in the Cookie Banner.

Depending on whether you have installed your CookieScript GTM template from the gallery or imported manually, there are two cases on how to update your GTM template.

Case 1: Update the GTM template that was downloaded from the gallery

To update the Google Tag Manager (GTM) template that was downloaded from the gallery, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Go to your GTM account:

Step 2: Go to your templates, where you will find one template update available:

Step 3: Click the update sign, marked as a clock:

Step 4: Finally, accept the update:

All done, your have updated your GTM template.

Case 2: Update the GTM template that was imported manually (no auto-update from the gallery)

If you previously imported the GTM template manually, you can't auto-update it. In this case, you need to delete the current template and install the new one (either by using a GTM template or importing manually).

To update the GTM template that was imported manually, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Go to the folder Tags, select the CookieScript CMP, and press the Delete icon:

Step 2: Confirm that you want to delete the current CookieScript CMP tag:

Step 3: Go to the folder Templates, select the current CookieScript CMP template, and delete it.

Step 4: Install the CookieScript again using a GTM Tag Template or as a Custom HTML Tag.

See the guide on how to install the CookieScript.

All done, your GTM template is up to date.
