Troubleshooting banner configuration
This article is about how to solve problems regarding banner configuration
Here are the most common problems and their solutions regarding banner configuration.
Problem: The banner is reloaded on every web page
Solution: ensure the CookieScriptConsent cookie is set in Cookies section. If itβs missing, go to Scans section, and start a new scan. After the scan completes, the CookieScriptConsent cookie should appear in the Cookies section. Make sure this cookie is set as strictly necessary to remember user consent preferences accurately.
Problem: The banner appears on every web page when the subdomain option is enabled
Solution: The banner appears on every web page when the subdomain option is enabled and the parent domain is entered incorrectly. Check your subdomain settings. If enabled, make sure you have the PARENT domain entered correctly.
For example, the parent domain should be yourwebsite.com, not store.yourwebsite.com.
To change your parent domain, go to your CookieScript user account > Settings > Banner behavior, where you will find the REMEMBER CONSENT FOR SUBDOMAINS checkbox, and enter the correct domain name below. Read more about how to set up subdomains.
Problem: The cookie banner appears only on the first page and the cookie badge is not showing up on other pages.
Solution: If you want the cookie badge to be shown always, regardless of the user's choice, update the GTM template.
Problem: My website has a long loading time, and the banner loads too fast.
Solution: There are two options. First, download the cookie banner script to your local server and host it locally. Second, you can delay your cookie banner initialization.
